The Rivers Casino in Des Plaines will open July 18 if the state’s gaming board approves the date later this month, casino officials announced this week.
The five-member board will have to give approval, but casino officials don’t anticipate any changes, said Jamie Langdon, casino spokeswoman. The opening date announcement comes after months of speculation and wonder from the community and Chicagoland residents.
“We are excited to open the doors to the Rivers Casino. It is a showplace attraction for the entire region,” said Neil Bluhm, chairman of Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, LLC, in a press release. “We have considered every detail with our customers in mind.”
Workers are still putting the finishing touches on the specialty restaurants and preparing to install table games like blackjack, craps and roulette, Langdon said.

The 147,000 square foot state-of-the-art gaming facility will boast more than 1,050 slot machines, 48 table games including pai gow poker and baccarat and a VIP area with a gaming salon and lounge. Two entertainment venues will also be a part of the new gambling palace.
Casino-goers can choose from a variety of restaurants specializing in authentic Asian cuisine, burgers and sandwiches. Hugo’s Frog Bar and Chop House will serve Gibson’s steaks and fresh seafood and the Canopy Buffet will feature nine different serving stations.
The casino will have 2,300 parking spaces, valet, and offer shuttle service from O’Hare and Midway airports, McCormick Place and various hotels in the Chicagoland area. Luggage check will be available for guests.
“Our team members are the best I have worked with in my 20 plus years in gaming and our guests will experience a new gold standard of customer service,” said Bill Keena, Rivers Casino General Manager. “The Rivers team is looking forward to welcoming our guests.”
