South Park Warms Up Winter for NICASA
South Park Elementary School in Deerfield has made winter a little warmer for those in need. The school held a collection of coats, hats, scarves and gloves, and gathered 10 large boxes of winter wear to donate to the Northern Illinois Council for Alcohol and Substance Abuse. Thanks to the South Park staff, NICASA visitors will have warm feet as well. When the director of the shelter said that many visitors do not even have socks to wear, the South Park staff held their own sock drive.
Olson Transportation, the company that provides bus service for District 109, donated the bus service to get the winter wear to the NICASA shelter in North Chicago. Driver Larry Phillips donated his time to help South Park student council members load the boxes on his bus, and drive the clothing to the shelter.
