Our Lady of Peace Students Shine During Catholic Schools' Week
Faith, academics and service were evident during Catholic Schools’ Week at Our Lady of Peace School. It was an exceptional week where all of the students, including present and past, shined, encouraged each other, took pride in their accomplishments, and reflected on how they earned them.
The open house and science fair drew a crowd of existing Our Lady of Peace School families eager to view the science fair and visit projects displayed in their child’s classroom. Many new families joined them to learn more about what OLP can offer their children. New parents took note of the dedicated teachers that are the hallmark of OLP. It was also a time to look ahead to what students will learn as they progress through the school. The creativity and knowledge presented by the eighth grade science fair projects gave visitors food for thought and new insight into how science effects everyday life.
As the week continued, students enjoyed special school events and activities with their peers. This included spirit day, mismatched day, Mass and the highly anticipated talent show. Many OLP students in grades four through eight shared their talents and entertained their classmates in a crowded OLP gym. All received loud applause and cheers for a job well done.
A special Catholic Schools’ Week Mass officially ended the week’s events and honored a beloved teacher and a distinguished alumnus. Devoted kindergarten teacher Miss Kleemann, a Golden Apple nominee, was praised for providing her students with a solid learning foundation on which to build their education and faith.
A 1976 OLP graduate, Dr. Anthony DeLorenzo, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. He said that the faith, academics, and service opportunities he garnered while attending OLP have benefitted him throughout his education and career.
