Police: Teen on bike struck, trapped under car

A 14-year-old boy from the Downers Grove area was stuck by a car while riding a bike Sunday and trapped underneath the vehicle, Darien police said Tuesday. His condition Tuesday is not available.

The driver, Timothy J. Hagan, 40, of 3000 block of Drover Lane in Darien, was cited at the scene for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, about 5 p.m., police said in a statement.

Police said Hagan was at the intersection of Beller Drive and Lemont Road, waiting to make a right-hand turn onto Lemont Road and did not see the juvenile approaching in the crosswalk before he struck him with his car.

The juvenile was unconscious as he was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with serious injuries  before he was airlifted  by helicopter to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His condition is not available.

Southbound Lemont Road was shut down for several hours Sunday evening as officials with the DuPage County Felony Investigative Assistance Team reconstructed the accident, which remains under investigation, police said.

Further information was not provided.
