The following items were taken from Darien police reports on Jan 25.
Fast food DUIs
- A 26-year-old Darien man, of the 7600 block of Wilton Road, was charged with DUI after police observed him driving erratically near the 2100 block of Manning Road about 3:40 a.m. on Jan. 16. The man told police he left a friend’s house and wanted to go to a fast-food restaurant. Police say the man admitted to drinking, though he refused to submit to blood alcohol testing. The man was processed and released with a Feb. 14 court date. He was also cited for speeding and not using a turn signal.
- A 29-year-old Darien man was charged with DUI after police saw him drive over a raised median, exiting a drive-through in the 7400 block of Cass Avenue around 1 a.m. on Jan. 8. After crossing the median, police watched as he swerved in his lane while traveling down Plainfield Road. In addition to DUI, the resident of the 1500 block of Lakeview Drive, was cited for driving over the median. He refused blood alcohol testing, though police say he admitted to drinking earlier in the night.
Store owner pulls former employee’s hair
- The owner of a store in the 7500 block of Cass Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct after he was accused of grabbing a former employee by the hair and pulling her to the ground about 2 p.m. on Jan. 17. The owner, a Downers Grove man of the 8500 block of Washington Street, was processed and released with a pending court date.
Arrests
- A 45-year-old Darien woman, of the 7600 block of Grant Street, was charged with domestic battery after she punched her husband in the face during an argument about 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. The woman was booked into DuPage County Jail, which is police practice following a domestic violence arrest.
- A 48-year-old Downers Grove man, of the 6400 block of Wells Street, was charged with domestic violence after pushing a door into his ex-wife’s chest while attempting to visit his children at a home in the 7500 block of Country Lane about 7 p.m. on Jan. 19.
Theft
- A manager of a pharmacy in the 7500 block of Cass Avenue reported that a middle-aged man entered the store and stole two electric razors at about 2 p.m. on Jan. 15. The razors are worth about $63.
- Two rings were taken from a home in the 7400 block of Brookdale Drive while a real estate agent hosted an open house on Jan. 17 and 18. The resident told police she put her rings, worth an estimated $1,350, on a bathroom sink. She later noticed they were missing.
Criminal damage
- A vehicle’s rear passenger-side tire was slashed between 5 and 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 while parked in the 8400 block of Wilmette Avenue. The tire will cost an estimated $100 to replace.
