Following major registration headaches in past months, the Chicago Park District has revamped its online system and divided registration times based on park location for fall programs.

The park agency said today it had been working with its web vendor, ActiveNet, to improve the registration software system and moved the re-designed hardware to a new location. The changes yielded positive results during extensive testing, the park district said in an e-mail to patrons.

“It is our expectation that these changes will provide patrons with a smooth registration experience and a better customer experience overall,” the e-mail states.

Earlier this year, the park district upset scores of Chicago residents who encountered technical glitches when signing up for spring and summer programs. Some complained they couldn’t enroll on the district’s newly-redesigned site, while others said they waited in limbo for their purchases to go through.

People applying to camps at parks west of 2800 West California Avenue can register online on Aug. 20. Those looking to sign up for sessions at parks east of 2800 West California Avenue can sign up starting Aug. 21. Depending on the park, in-person registration begins Aug. 25 or Aug. 27, according to the park district.
