Police: Aurora man stabbed himself in the leg

An Aurora man has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report saying that someone had stabbed him in the leg, police said.

At around 2 a.m. July 22, Crystal Lake police officers were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Point Drive for a home invasion report.

Upon arrival, police met with Lee A. Ivy, 25, who reportedly said that an unknown male subject had entered into the residence and stabbed him in the leg with a knife.

At that time, Ivy had a knife embedded in his left thigh, deputy police chief Eugene Lowery said.

Ivy was visiting a friend at the time, authorities said.

He was subsequently transported to the Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry where he was treated for his stab wound.

During the investigation, police officers determined that the reported incident did not occur.

Lowery said police officers became suspicious when Ivy’s account of what happened did not coincide with reports from witnesses at the home.

Ivy was arrested and charged with the felony Tuesday. He posted bond and has since been released from the McHenry County Jail.

He later admitted to self-inflicting the wound on his leg, Lowery said.

“He concocted the story as a result of accidentally stabbing himself when he had been out on a deck at the home,” he said. “He attempted to re-enter the home, tripped and fell and stabbed himself.”
