Dist. 86 will stay out of home value appeals for now

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 officials will reconsider involvement in residential property assessment challenges following a heated Monday night board meeting that had members of the audience yelling and booing during debate.

School board members voted to temporarily step out of cases in which homeowners are challenging real estate assessments in an effort to reduce their property tax bill. The vote gives school leaders a 60-day window to study how effective the district’s involvement with residential assessments has been in the past.
