A check of Buffalo Grove massage parlors led to the arrest of two women who propositioned undercover officers, police said Wednesday.
Myeong Hi Lim, 64, of the 2600 block of South Cedar Glen Drive, Arlington Heights, was charged with prostitution July 13 at Sun Spa, 1359 W. Dundee Road.
Solongomaa Tserendori, 42, of the 1400 block of Carol Street, Park Ridge, was also charged with prostitution July 20 at GQ Spa, 1105 Weiland Road.
Police perform periodic checks on the massage parlors in town. Cmdr. Jim Newton estimates there are less than 10 parlors in town.
He said the two arrests were unusual.
“We haven’t had any problems in a while,” he said. “We try to do these on a regular basis. To get two within a week is a little unlikely, but that’s what happened.”
The employees are arrested and usually fired from the spas, he said.

Law enforcement may be missing an important opportunity here to address the root cause of prostitution in this community–pimps, traffickers and johns (people who buy sex). Arresting and re-arresting prostituted women is not an effective way to combat the harms of sex trade. I am concerned that this story does not mention the possibility that these women could be victims of sex trafficking. Who was keeping their money? Were they screened for trafficking? A more effective solution for Buffalo Grove might be to place more strict regulations on massage parlors and spas, as Mt. Prospect has done, and focus attention on holding johns and traffickers accountable.
