VVSD searching for community FANS

Valley View School District’s FANS (Friends and Neighbors Supporting Students) program is conducting a district-wide search for people who care about children and are willing to give of their time to help them succeed in school.

The next training session for FANS is from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 18 at the Valley View Administrative Office at 755 Dalhart, Romeoville. Reservations are needed by calling Michele Bochnak at 815-886-2700. Other sessions will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. March 21 and 10 a.m. to noon on April 21.

FANS at the high school level serve in various capacities including meeting and greeting students during high traffic periods before and after school and during lunch and mentoring. Middle school and elementary school FANS could be bilingual tutors, hall monitors, lunch buddy mentors, subject tutors, mentors, reading assistants and much more.

Being involved in FANS has a variety of benefits including the choice of 21 different locations, flexible hours, working in areas of your own interest, giving back to your community and, best of all, getting paid back with love and appreciation.

Information on FANS is available by calling Bochnak at 815-886-2700, Ext. 297.
