Bolingbrook Boys 10U Travel Baseball Teams Sweep BYBL’s Inaugural Memorial Weekend Tournament with 1st and 2nd place honors.

May 30, 2010: The Bolingbrook Rampage and the Bolingbrook Dupage Dragons created their own cross town classic in BYBL’s (Bolingbrook Youth Baseball League) inaugural Memorial Weekend Tournament held at Indian Boundary Park in Bolingbrook. The teams played each other twice in double elimination play including the championship game on Sunday. The Dupage Dragons defeated the Yorkville Reds 10-9 on Friday and the Bolingbrook Rampage 10-4 on Saturday to take the number one seed into Sunday’s Championship Game. The Rampage defeated Lincoln-Way Prospects 9-8 on Thursday, then took a loss to the Dupage Dragons 4-10 on Saturday, forcing them to battle their way back to the Championship game. The Rampage defeated the Yorkville Reds 18-10 and the Lincoln-Way Prospects 16-6 to solidify their spot in the Championship game. In Sunday’s finale, the two Bolingbrook teams battled it out for 1^st and 2^nd place in the tournament. The Rampage took the lead in the top of the first 2 – 0, but the Dragon’s answered in the bottom when Ben Steiner smashed an out of the park home run to left, scoring 2 to tie up the game. After the Dragons added another run to take the lead in the bottom of the first, the Rampage added 2 and the Dragon’s 1 in the 2^nd, knotting the score at 4. Defense took over in the middle innings with both sides trading outs in the 3^rd and 4^th. In the fifth, the Rampage broke out scoring 4 runs, forcing the Dragons to battle back by scoring 2 in the bottom of the 5th and holding the Rampage at bay in the top of the 6^th. The Dragons scored again in the bottom of the 6^th making it a one run ball game before being shut down with 2 strike outs by the Rampage’s Joey Krabbenhoft to win the game with a final score of 8-7. Congratulations to the 1^st place Bolingbrook Rampage and 2^nd place Bolingbrook Dupage Dragons on some outstanding baseball play!!
