Breast Cancer Awareness at The Promenade Bolingbrook
Russ Phillips, owner of Russ Wholesale Flowers, had an excess of pink Gerbera Daisies from Breast Cancer Awareness month (a whopping 1,000 daisies). He and his grower, Dramm & Echter, decided not let these beautiful flowers to go to waste. As a result, Russ posted a Facebook notice offering local businesses an opportunity to utilize the flowers for any activity they had already coordinated for BCA month. Being a friend of The Promenade and former participant in The Promenade's annual motorcycle shows, Russ was eager to send the flowers to The Promenade. Upon receiving the daisies the executive team at The Promenade wasted no time and quickly loaded a cart with buckets full of flowers and headed out to the shopping center to give away the flowers to their merchants andshopping guests. Their message was simple; “A flower for you, on behalf of The Promenade Bolingbrook in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.” During their walk they received comments such as, “This is a great surprise” - “This is so sweet” – “Thank you so much, I am a survivor”, and “I miss my mother every day because of Breast Cancer”. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Phillips and Dramm & Echter, The Promenade was able to put smiles on many faces on Thursday, Oct 28th while offering a gentle reminder that Breast Cancer continues to be a very serious matter that affects many families and their loved ones.
