Batavia High School Varsity Dance Team finished their last regional dance competition on February 18th at the Mahomet-Seymour TeamDance Illinois (TDI) contest earning first place trophies all-around. The team won first place in the 3A Division with their Open Pom, Open Dance and Hip Hop routines. In addition, they won the Technical Excellence Award for their superior score in dance technique. This season, the team has competed in six regional TDI contests, never ranking lower than third place for any of their routines.
Batavia will end their competition season by attending the TDI State Championship on Sunday, March 4th in Peoria competing in the 3A division in both Open Pom and Open Dance categories. This is their 6th consecutive trip to the State Championship.
Batavia’s Junior Varsity competition season closed on February 12th with a trip to the “TDI JV Invitational-Championship.” The team placed 3rd in Open Pom and 5th in Open Dance. The JV team also competed in six regional competitions during the past four months.
