Batavia High School Dance Teams kicked off their competition season with strong performances at the St. Charles East Regional TeamDance Illinois (TDI) competition on November 6th. The Batavia Varsity Dance Team won second place in the 3A division with their Open Pom routine while the Junior Varsity qualified for the “JV Illinois Invitational” by placing second in the JV Open Dance category. The JV Invitational will be held at Argo High School in February 2012.

Batavia Varsity has 17 members with 9 returning dancers from last year and the JV team has a total of 17 dancers with 8 returning members. Varsity team is coached by Angie Fuqua and JV is coached by Rebecca Bombard. In addition to performing at regional competitions, both Varsity and JV dance teams will be entertaining Batavia fans during the half time of all home basketball games this upcoming basketball season.

Batavia will be hosting a regional TDI dance/flag competition on Sunday, January 8, 2012. In addition to providing a competitive venue for area suburban Chicago dance/flag teams, the 6th Annual Batavia Dance Classic will feature two conference championships at this event: the Suburban Christian Conference and the North IL Big 12 Conference Championship.
