Batavia House Walk Tickets Available for 9/26 Walk

          Tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Batavia House Walk, sponsored by the Batavia MainStreet.  The walk is on Sunday, September 26  from  11 am to 4 pm.  This year’s event, “Your Gateway to Discovering Batavia,” features five distinctive Batavia homes and a tea for all House Walk visitors. 

         Presale tickets are $18 in advance and may be purchased online at www.downtownbatavia.com or in person at any of the following locations:  the Batavia MainStreet Office (4 ½ W Wilson St., downstairs), Sue’s Family Hair Co. (139 S Batavia Ave), K. Hollis Jewelers (147 S Randall Rd), Eclectibles (3 Webster St), and Gibby’s Wine Den in Geneva (1772 S Randall Rd).  The program will serve as the ticket for admittance to the event.  Tickets on the day of the event, if available, are $20.  The House Walk is presented by The Kane County Chronicle and benefits Batavia MainStreet and efforts to revitalize downtown Batavia.  House Walk Patrons include:  Fifth-Third Bank, The Holmstad, Simonetti  Studios, Shady Hill Gardens, Gibby’s Wine Den and 480i Productions The Write Word, Daphne Ritchie and Anderson Advertising Design.  House Walk Friends are: Boyce Body Works, Eco Marsh Products, Kluber Inc., and Marsh Products.

                Home featured in the walk include a 1852 “Greek Revival”, a 2006 contemporary and modern home, a 1896 “Farm House” that has been through extensive remodeling, a 1858 “Italianate Victorian” and a “Late Victorian complete rehab.”  In addition to the House Walk, visitors are encouraged to spend the day in downtown Batavia and enjoy the featured sales and specials offered by various restaurants and businesses in the downtown area.

                A listing of House Walk specials and events will be included in the House Walk Program.  Special room rates are offered through the nearby Comfort Inn (630) 208-8811.  Special rates are also offered through the Baymont Inn and Suites in North Aurora by calling 630-897-7695 and asking for rate code SR6 at the time of reservation.

                The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 55 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois.  The mission of the Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia’s downtown area as the heart of the community.  MainStreet members work through the four points: Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion to improve the downtown district.  MainStreet volunteers believe the revitalization of Downtown Batavia is essential to the community’s sense of pride, place and heritage for this and future generations.
