Austin Dempsey, Vice President of Batavia Enterprises, Inc., received The Business Ledger’s 2010 Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in the category of Regional Spirit. Regional Spirit honorees, according to The Business Ledger, “demonstrate commitment to the growth and well-being of the region through outstanding corporate citizenship and promotion of regional ties.” Those who know Austin Dempsey know his commitment to Batavia and the prosperous growth of Batavia’s downtown.
Dempsey does not just participate in local groups; he takes the time to provide leadership and guidance in areas that benefit from his experience and skills. Dempsey is a Commissioner on the Batavia Bike Commission, a board member for Batavia MainStreet and Water Street Studios, Fundraising Chair for the Batavia Fireworks Committee, and is an active member in the Downtown Property Partnership. He is also involved with many charitable and civic organizations. In 2009 Dempsey celebrated the success of Water Street Studios where he personally led the renovation process in order to preserve the historical building while creating an intimate new home for the Batavia Artist Association. On Friday, September 17th Water Street Studios will celebrate its one year anniversary with a new art exhibit featuring judges from the Art Institute of Chicago.
