Corporate Comedy kicks off Albright Theatre’s 37th Season Batavia Community Theatre Presents The Desk Set The Albright Theatre Company opens their 37th season with The Desk Set, a romantic comedy by William Marchant . In this hilarious commentary on the social structure of the average workplace in the 1950’s, the women who run the reference department at The Federal Broadcasting Network, affectionately referred to as “the desk set”, feel their jobs as the “human brains” of the operation are being threatened by the introduction of new technology. And when the computer prints them each a pink slip, their world of corporate mergers, increasing workloads and on-and-off office romances is turned upside down! “The Desk Set is the perfect show to open our 37th season,” says director Jen Ring from Batavia. “This show represents intense issues that everyone can relate to: man vs. machine, professional vs. personal lives and job security, but it wraps them up in 1950’s retro pop space ship themed wrapping paper, making it so fun to watch.” Performance Dates are: September 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25. Show times are: Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 p.m. and Sundays, 2:00 p.m. For tickets, please call 630-406-8838. Reservations are strongly recommended.
