The Garden Club of Barrington Partners with Mariani Landscape and Design Plants Trees at Citizens Park

The Garden Club of Barrington planted three trees at Citizens Park in celebration of the upcoming Centennial of the Garden Club of America (GCA) in 2013. The Centennial Tree program is a way for the Garden Club to leave a living legacy in communities around the country. The Centennial is celebrating the GCA’s heritage and its promise “to grow the future”.

Here in Barrington three Bald Cypress were planted by The Garden Club of Barrington in conjunction with Mariani Landscape and Design in Lake Bluff. The trees were chosen because they are native to the area and are a good cultivar for swampy soil. Mariani’s donated the ten foot trees and The Garden Club planned, will care for, and will track the progress of the trees growth over the coming years. The trees are planted just North of the Pepper Tree House at Citizen’s Park.

The Garden Club of Barrington is one of 199 member clubs of the Garden Club of America. Founded in 1925, the Barrington chapter has brought beauty to the Barrington area throughout the years and is actively involved in many civic projects. Currently The Garden Club supports and/or works at gardens at the Barrington Area Library, Barrington Train Station, Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and Citizens Park.
