Every year the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) judges and awards a dental practice for their efforts during National Children’s Dental Health Month. This year, the ISDS selected Children’s Dentistry Group, in Lake Zurich, IL as the first place winner in the Individual/Small Group Division.
Children’s Dentistry Group, LLC has spent countless hours volunteering to help educate community children, parents and teachers about preventing oral health related diseases and developing good habits that will last a lifetime. Dr. Paul Herer, Dr. Melissa Patenio and Vanessa Campos, Children’s Dentistry’s registered dental hygienist, have put together a program that can be geared for every age group and every need. The CDG Team volunteered at local daycare centers, preschools, elementary, middle and high schools to provide the community with Dental Health presentations consisting of PowerPoint slides, demonstrations and activities in addition to interactive discussions. Over 720 kids participated in the school and daycare programs between June 2009 and March 2010. The CDG Team also participated in a local library program, career fair, parent group and the opening of the Tooth Fairy movie at the Regal Cinema in Lake Zurich. They even publish their own quarterly e-newsletter with articles ranging from diet and nutrition to the oral health needs of children with special needs. In addition to being committed to providing an exceptional service Children’s Dentistry Group is dedicated to the education of the community and it’s children.
Two members of the CDG team will be heading down to Champaign, IL in September where they will be presented with a plaque and a check that can be put towards the expansion and enhancement of their program.
