A group of Barrington High School students, led by Boy Scout Troop 21 and members of BHS Colts Leadership, has recently formed Go Beyond Barrington, a nonprofit whose first project is to assist in the reconstruction efforts of Joplin High School following the Missouri town’s devastating tornado last spring.
Go Beyond Barrington’s will host “Go Beyond Week” October 1-7, with the goal of raising $15,000 for the school’s Industrial Technology Program. The program is currently not funded in the reconstruction of Joplin High School, which sustained $151 million in damage in the tornado. The organization has already received funding from several key sponsors, including Pepper Construction, Wickstrom Auto Group, and The Garlands of Barrigton.
As part of Go Beyond Barrington week, the “Jammin’ For Joplin” will be held on Friday, October 7, from 7:00 to 9:00pm in the Barrington High School auditorium. The event will feature Barrington’s finest performers and entertainers, including Flounder Gus, Pat McKillen, BHS 2006, and BHS choral groups. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door.
