Speeding in a school zone in Barrington will cost drivers $120, up from $75, beginning Sept. 15.
Police remind motorists that the speed limit in school zones is 20 m.p.h. on school days when children are present.
If caught speeding in a school zone, a driver must make a court appearance and if found guilty can have his or her license suspended.
Police also want to remind motorists that the use of handheld cell phones is prohibited while driving through a school zone under a law that went into effect in January.
