AU blanketed by storm

Aurora University evening classes beginning at 4 p.m. or later on Thursday, Jan. 12, were canceled at the university's Illinois campus due to the snow storm that descended on northern Illinois.

The university remained open and a Martin Luther King, Jr. lecture continued as planned.

Rhonda Joy McLean, deputy general counsel of Time Inc. and co-author of "The Little Black Book of Success: Laws of Leadership for Black Women," was scheduled to discuss "Leadership in a Multicultural Society" at 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 in Crimi Auditorium, 407 S. Calumet Ave.

McLean, a 1972 Aurora College graduate, was to address what she considers the building blocks of true leadership: self-confidence, effective communication, collaboration and courage.

Classes and events scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13, were to be held as scheduled.

University officials continued to monitor the weather and update the community if plans change.
