All Saints Sunday: Aurora church honors ceremony of naming the honored dead

Members of Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora on Sunday, Nov. 7, celebrated All Saints Sunday with the ceremony of naming the honored dead. As Pastor Rev. Deborah Tinsley Taylor read names of 20 members and friends who passed during the past year, and a bell sounded, congregants lit candles on the altar. Youth member Alex Martin, 14, of Aurora assisted as acolyte. Rev. Taylor prayed, "This day revives in us memories of loved ones who are no more. "What happiness we shared when they walked among us. What joy, when, loving and being loved, we lived our lives together. "The links of life are broken but the links of love and longing cannot break." After candlelighting for the 20 persons named, friends and relatives lit candles for others dearly departed. --END--
