Aurora Central Catholic has come a long way since its 3-23 season four years ago. The Chargers, under coach Mark Fitzgerald, have steadily gained respect.

And in a Class 2A supersectional at Concordia University in River Forest on Monday, Aurora Central advanced to its first state semifinal with a convincing 58-29 win over Raby.

The Chargers (25-6), who have won the most games in school history, will play defending 2A champion Quincy Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
