Biggert now unopposed in GOP race

Veteran Republican U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert will not face a March primary challenge in a newly drawn west and south suburban congressional district now that state elections officials have tossed would-be foes off the ballot.

The Illinois State Board of Elections’ decision Thursday to remove John “Jack” Cunningham from the 11th Congressional District ballot represented a political embarrassment: As Kane County clerk, he’s the county’s chief election official.
