TRIBLOCAL HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
- HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST: a. The “TribLocal High School Player of the Month” contest (“Contest”) will begin September 8, 2011 and ends May 31, 2012. (“Contest Period”). b. Student athletes may be nominated only by their respective high school athletic directors or by TribLocal staff and must attend a participating high school as defined below. Athletic directors or TribLocal staff must submit the nomination to TribLocal by 9:00 pm (CT) on the 25th day of each month for the nominee to be considered for the following month. c. The nomination must be submitted by email to [email address] and must include the name, class year, and sport of the student as well as a short description (no more than 50 words) about why the student is being nominated, and a photo of the student. d. Eligible nominations will be posted online at www.triblocal.com on or about the first weekday of every month. Online voting for nominees will take place between the first and third week of each month with weekly updates published in the TribLocal print edition. To vote for a student athlete, log onto www.triblocal.com during Contest Period and click on a specified URL. You can vote only once every 24 hours for a student athlete in any given monthly period. You must be located in the United States at the time you vote. An online vote will be deemed received when Sponsors’ website server records the entry data.

e. The student athlete with the most online votes, as tabulated by Chicago Tribune and TribLocal (“Sponsors”), shall be declared the TribLocal High School Player of the Month. In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by TribLocal judges based on demonstrated athletic prowess in the nomination.
3. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS: a. Athletic Directors or TribLocal staff may nominate any “deserving” high school student athlete who participates in an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) varsity sport and who resides in one of the following suburbs and is currently enrolled at a public or private high school (grades 9 through 12) in one of the following suburbs: Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, Elgin, Maple Park, St. Charles, Orland Park, Orland Hills, Homer Glen, Palos Heights, Palos Park, Palos Hills, Lemont, Tinley Park, Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Manhattan, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield, Naperville, Aurora, Lisle, Elmhurst, Lombard, Villa Park, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Western Springs, Westchester, Oak Brook, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Streamwood, Elk Grove Village, Rolling Meadows, Antioch, Fox Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Ingelside, Round Lake, Wadsworth, Joliet, Downers Grove, Westmont, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Libertyville, Mundelein, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Barrington, Palatine, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Park Ridge, Niles, Evanston, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Deerfield, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Glenview, Northbrook, Oak Park, River Forest and Lake Villa. The student has to be currently participating in the varsity sport at the time of the nomination. (e.g. A student who played a sport in the fall is ineligible for High School Player of the Month for that sport after the conclusion of the state championship in that sport). b. If the athlete nominee quits school, is expelled, moves to a school not in one of the above-listed suburbs, or becomes academically ineligible, then he/she will no longer be eligible for consideration for High School Player of the Month. A nominee may be voted High School Player of the Month only once during the Contest Period. c. Employees of Chicago Tribune Company and TribLocal and of their respective licensees, affiliates, affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners and members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate or win. d. All information submitted in nomination forms will be subject to verification. Those submitting nominations are required to provide truthful information and Sponsors will reject and delete any entry they discover to be false or fraudulent.
4. AWARDS/DONATIONS: a. Each TribLocal High School Player of the Month will receive a Certificate, with an approximate retail value of less than $20. Each High School Player of the Month’s school will receive a monetary award for the school’s athletic department in the form of a check. b. One (1) Certificate will be mailed to the TribLocal High School Player of the Month within eight (8) weeks of notification of winning. The monetary donations for the winner’s school will be delivered to the winner’s school at a time to be determined by the winner’s school, TribLocal and Chicago Tribune. Sponsors are not responsible for the safe arrival of a certificate or donation.
5. CONDITIONS/RESTRICTIONS: a. By participating in the Contest and accepting the awards, the winners (by their parents/guardians) hereby agree: (i) that all decisions of Sponsors with respect to the Contest are final and binding; (ii) to release Sponsors, their parent companies and affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensees from any and all claims in connection with the Contest and the use of the prizes/donations; (iii) to allow Sponsors to use their names, voices, photographs, likenesses, or biographical material used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this Contest, without additional financial or other compensation; and (iv) where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize. If the winner is a minor, his or her parent or legal guardian must sign the publicity release on behalf of the minor. b. Sponsors, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of Triblocal.com web site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. Sponsors further reserve the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort. In the event Sponsors do so, they will post notice of their action on the Contest website. In addition, in the event the Contest is cancelled during a voting phase, the High School Player of the Month for that month will be the nominee with the most valid votes received as of the time and date of termination. c. Sponsors are not responsible for votes not received due to difficulty accessing the Internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties or other technological glitches or for lost, stolen, deleted, garbled, misdelivered, incomplete or late nominations. d. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equivalent or greater value, which will become effective upon announcement. e. Failure to comply with the Contest rules or to engage in conduct that violates the spirit of the Official Rules may result in a nominee or voter’s disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsors. f. Sponsors are not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the Contest or in the announcement of the prize. g. Copies of the written Contest rules and a list of all winners (when complete) will be available on www.triblocal.com. h. Information submitted in conjunction with the Contest will be treated in accordance with TribLocal’s terms of use and privacy policy, which are set forth at the bottom of the www.triblocal.com webpage.
