The National Weather Service has downgraded its lake-effect snow warning for Cook and Will counties today, but says northwest Indiana is in danger of 6 to 12 inches of snow and perhaps as much as 18.
In fact, the service’s meteorologists this morning said they came very close to issuing a blizzard warning for northwest Indiana instead of a simpler lake-effect snow warning. But the high winds necessary for a blizzard warning aren’t likely to materialize, the forecasters said.
