The following was taken from Arlington Heights Police records on Feb. 2.
Burglary
- Six plastic boxes containing jewelry, valued together at $3,000, were stolen in an apparent ruse burglary from a woman on the 400 block of North Brighton Place between 4:45 and 5 p.m. Jan. 27. A man came to her door wanting to discuss tree trimming in her backyard. He said he was waiting for his partner to arrive and called his partner on the cell phone and asked if he was getting close. Then man then left in a nondescript white van. The woman later discovered a pillow case was missing, along with the jewelry.
- A blue portable Chicago electrical generator, valued at $750 was stolen from Finns Plumbing, 3 N. Hickory Ave., between 2 p.m. Jan. 27 and 7 a.m. Jan. 30. A pry tool was used to force open the front entry door.
- Numerous jewelry items, including a silver engagement ring, valued at $3,000; a silver watch with jewels, valued at $2,500; and other necklaces, earrings and rings were stolen from a home on the 1400 block of West Lexington Drive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 1. A sliding glass sun room door and then a kitchen window were forced open.
Theft from motor vehicle
- The rear tires and wheels of two 2012 Ford F20 trucks were stolen from Arlington Heights Ford, 580 W. University Drive, between 9 a.m. Jan. 28 and 11 a.m. Jan. 30. The thieves cut through a cyclone fence and jacked up the rear ends of the trucks. The total loss was estimated at $3,152.
Theft
- Two men stole four bottles of Crown Royal, valued together at $158.96, from Dominick’s, 325 E. Palatine Road, at 11:39 a.m. Jan. 30. A store employee believes the men distracted employees several times while attempting to take the liquor.
Criminal trespass to property
- A 36-year-old homeless man was trespassing at the Metra station, 45 W. Northwest Highway, between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 2. He was prohibited from returning to the station on June 30, 2011 with a trespass warning notice. He is due in court Feb. 21.
