A variety of healthcare and nursing continuing education courses will be offered by Continuing Professional Development at the College of Lake County this fall. By enrolling, health care professionals can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to help maintain their license or update a skill set to obtain employment.
CPR Basic: BLS Healthcare Provider, designed for certified, noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals, is offered at the Grayslake campus at a variety of dates and times this fall, including: Friday, Aug. 27 from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or Sunday, Aug. 29 from 1-6 p.m. Cost: $59. CPR Refresher: BLS Healthcare Provider is designed for all healthcare professionals, but a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification card is required to attend. The course will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6-9 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 3 from 6-9 p.m.; Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 6-9 p.m. or Sunday, Oct. 17 from 1-4 p.m. All courses are held at the Grayslake campus and cost $49.
Updates for Nurses – a variety of topics will be offered to provide nursing professionals the opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge and receive contact hours. August and September course topics include Mother/Baby and Wound Care. Visit http://wpdi.clcillinois.edu/

CNA Re-certification provides re-certification of 21 skills and offers a review for the state exam. It is offered on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grayslake campus. Students must first contact the Illinois Department of Public Health at (217) 785-5133 and request a re-certification packet. Cost: $249.
EKG Interpretation, offered from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 13 through Oct. 25 at the Grayslake campus, provides an overview of the cardiac cycle and normal sinus rhythm. This CNE activity is being offered for 15 contact hours. Cost: $115.
IV Therapy Basics, offered from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays from Oct. 13 through Nov. 10 at the Grayslake campus, is designed for nurses who need a review or introduction to IV therapy. Class size is limited. This CNE activity is being offered for 13.75 contact hours. Cost: $115.
Spanish Interpreter Medical II, offered from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays from Sept. 18 through Oct. 16, is one of four sessions for the Certified Spanish Interpreter training program. Start the program with any one of the courses to become certified or enroll in this session to learn the specific vocabulary as it applies to the medical field. Cost: $549. All courses are offered at the Grayslake campus.
Pharmacy Technician Training, a 12-week course designed to teach you the fundamentals and practical skills needed to prepare you for entry-level work in a pharmacy setting. CLC’s program is taught by professionals who bring real-life experience to the classroom. Courses begin Sept. 8 at the Grayslake campus and Sept. 25 at the Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills.
