A former teacher at Antioch Community High School pleaded not guilty Jan. 9 to charges of tampering with computer records. Authorities allege that Sara Glashagel changed the grades of football players and other students.
Authorities said that in mid-September, Glashagel used an administrative password to change grades electronically for 64 students, 41 of whom were football players. District policy says that athletes whose grade-point averages are below 1.5 cannot compete, but School District 117 Co-Superintendent Mike Nekritz said no varsity player was on the ineligible list at that time.
Officials say they tracked down Glashagel, 27, of Elk Grove Village, who was in her fifth year with the district, after a teacher discovered a grade change she didn’t think she had made. District officials determined that numerous alterations had been made via an outside computer, and a subpoena of the person behind that computer’s IP address led to Glashagel, according to authorities.
Antioch police Chief Craig Somerville said Glashagel acknowledged changing grades, though she didn’t offer a motive. She was arrested on Nov. 18 and within days, resigned her teaching position.
Glashagel is the wife of Antioch’s head football coach, Brian Glashagel, who told authorities he didn’t know about the alleged grade-tampering, police said.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, Glashagel faces up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine. She is due in court next on Feb. 21.

Let me get this straight. Head Coach’s wife changes grades for 41 football players, and Head Coach doesn’t know a thing about it.
Puh-leez.
